The 18th largest state in America, the 13th most populous and the 14th richest in the country Washington is the most north-western part of the US. the average temperature is around 56.2 Fahrenheit which is just 13.5 Celcius. It borders Canada so you can expect the mountains to be covered with northern winds and snow. It’s much like Colorado in the fact that the countryside is pristine. Rivers and lakes break up the landscape and travel beside the miles and miles of tall tree forests. At one of the most westerly points of this westerly state, is the town of DuPont. It has a population of around 8,300 and easily blessed with some of the most beautiful natural beauty in all of the country. If you want a trip where there is plenty of open fresh air, incredibly scenery and above all else, peace and quiet, come to this part of the world and see what it’s all about.
Creeping along the creek
DuPont is blessed with many water features but one of the best is Sequalitchew Creek. It’s actually a great transition between the forest area and an open trail that leads back into the urban residential zone. You can find this great creek right in the middle of the city as the stream flows gently past urban life. Right next to the City Hall, the trail can be followed through a forest where you can find some shade and watch nature do it’s thing. The wildlife is of course thriving with many different creatures going about their daily chores in the forest and in the water itself. The trail itself also leads down to the shore if you follow it all the way. Perfect for long walks or taking pictures of the Pebble Beach.
Putting your feet up
Since hiking is by far the most popular activity, DuPont also has a number of hotels where you can rest up and take it easy. This hotel in DuPont is in the downtown vicinity where there are plenty of restaurants and bars to visit. There’s also a golf course by the name of Chambers Bay if you feel like hitting the green. There are two other golf courses nearby if you really feel the need. There’s also a fitness center with a stationary bike, treadmill and free weights. If you just want to take it slow, take a dip in the hot tub and relax your aches and pains. Perhaps you want something more active, in which case there’s also in indoor pool. To put the cherry on the cake, there’s also a complimentary breakfast and free coffee throughout the whole day.
Italian comfort food
Go east, and a little more into the town you’ll find plenty of local restaurants. One of them is Farrelli’s Pizza restaurant, where you can find all the best Italian comfort foods. Try the calzone they do, which is a thick dough that wraps around beautiful full fat soft cheese and cured smoked pancetta.
DuPont has windy mountains that are covered in snow, a fresh stream that runs straight through the town and a hotel that will suit your needs while you’re here.
