The Secret to Keeping Your Employees Happy Business

After a worldwide study in 2017, a shocking statistic revealed that only 15% of the world’s employees feel engaged at work. That means that a startling 85% of people are disinterested or unhappy in their job to some capacity.

Workers’ priorities are shifting rapidly in search of fulfillment and balance. People are no longer satisfied with a secure job, they are seeking more meaningful work that aligns with their personal goals and desires. In other words, people want to be happier.

A happy workforce has many benefits. Happy employees tend to be less stressed, which leads to far better productivity. Happy employees also deliver much better customer service and deal with issues positively and creatively. Unhappy workers are not as productive and have a much higher likelihood of quitting.

In the modern world, having happy staff is essential. Here are some tips for keeping your employees smiling and content in the workplace.

Show appreciation

We can all acknowledge that mistakes and problems need to be addressed at work. Whether it’s a messed up order or a faulty repair job, constructive criticism is necessary to overcome issues. However, good work should also be noted. Show appreciation to your staff by thanking them for their hard work.

Plan social events

A close-knit staff is crucial for harmony in the workplace. Plan fun social events throughout the calendar year to help the staff get to know each other better. Team bonding sessions, an office barbecue, or a staff night out are all viable options that are easy to organize.

Communicate company goals

It’s much more enjoyable to work for a successful company if you feel like your involved. Be open with your employees about what the business is trying to achieve. Let them know the value of their roles and explain how they are involved in the success of the company.

Build their trust

Teach, empower, and trust your staff. Delegate responsibility amongst them, utilize their strengths and trust them to make the company better. A trustful relationship makes workers happier by giving them a sense of purpose and responsibility.

Value employees’ opinions

Unsurprisingly, listening to what employees have to say better enables you to make them feel happy. This can be trickier than you’d think, however. Many employees would not be comfortable opening up directly to a manager or colleague.

Third-party research companies can carry out surveys on behalf of your organization to gain insightful employee feedback. These can be inclusion surveys that provide information on how to deal with your diverse workforce.

Prioritize balance

It’s important to respect your employees’ personal lives. Promoting a work/life balance demonstrates that you care about your staff and understand the importance of life outside of work.

Stop and smell the roses

Each day in life is precious. Let your staff know this. Now and then, you should take the time to celebrate success at work. Every celebration doesn’t have to involve champagne parties or outside of work events; there can be low key ways of marking achievements. Try celebrating with cake, or by giving out free doughnuts. If the delicious cake doesn’t make them happy, then what will?
