Trying to keep everything in your life totally afloat at all times can be hard for a lot of us to do. When we work every day and come home and have to try and balance every little aspect of our lives, it can get stressful and hard to handle. There are a lot of things that we can do though during our every day lives which can make life a little simpler and keep us organised, and today we are going to take a look at some of these things.
Organise at work
The first and likely the most major area of your life which you will want to get organised is work. Depending on where you work, the circumstances might be different however there are always things which you can do to make the time pass easier and allow you to do what you need to do. For example you could use a scheduling template for the week to organise any meetings a projects you have, and then make sure to fit in as much work as you can to make the most of every minute of the day. If you can keep things in files and make sure that you don’t have a mountain of random paperwork on your desk then this is the best thing for you to do.
Clear your wardrobe
A lot of us are guilty of this next one, and it is easy to fall into bad habits when we live a fast paced life every day. If you want to make sure that you are organised at home one of the things which can make a huge difference this week is for you to clear out your wardrobe. How many times have you ransacked your cupboards exclaiming that you have nothing to wear when you in fact, have a huge pile of clothes right in front of you? It’s time to clear out the things you no longer want or need and then you can spend time after this organising your clothes into type, colour or season depending on your taste. This will make life so much easier for you and it will allow you to find your perfect outfit every day.
Rearrange the kitchen cupboards
After a while of living in the same house it is easy for us to get into bad habits with tidiness and nothing demonstrates this more than the kitchen cupboards. What was once a perfectly organised place for cleaning products and cutlery and utensils is likely a mess of bottles and objects thrown in there in a rush. Take some time this weekend to clean up the space and you will be able to get rid of anything you no longer need, organise your Tupperware and make everything look and feel clean. It will make a massive difference whenever you are looking for something when cooking.
Organise your computer files
We are all guilty of this next one, and particularly if you are someone who downloads images or documents often from online, it can be easy to forget to file your media. Take some time today and organise your files into some sort of order. You could date them and have them month by month, you could group the same type of file together or as a project. Find an idea you like and run with it, your computer will look so much better after and you’ll be able to actually find your files when you need them!
Plan your garden for the year
If you have a house with a garden, a good idea would be to plan out what you want to do with the space. This can include deciding when you will prune the plants, when to sow seeds and where in the garden everything will go. Having a little calendar on your fridge for this can be handy and it will ensure that your garden looks amazing all year long without fail.
Plan out the week’s meals
Planning your food for the week is the best thing you can do if you want to stay healthy and save some money. We have a habit of shopping when we are hungry and without a list, and this can cause us to pick up far too much food and it can also make us buy things which aren’t too healthy. Make sure you always plan out a week’s worth of meals and have a clear list before you go shopping because this will save you a lot of money and a lot of fat!
Scan old photos
Although most of our photographs are on our computers and phones these days, a lot of us still have polaroids which we keep in our home. However over time these pictures can begin to fade, and this is why it is important for us to scan them and save a copy. If you can do this and keep a folder on your computer full of old images, you’ll have to worry about losing them forever and this can be an amazing thing.
Clean up
If you want to feel organised this week, one of the easiest things you can possibly do is to clean up the house. Take the time this weekend to clean your home top to bottom, and you’ll be guaranteed to feel so much better afterwards and more clear minded. Living in a home which is messy or dirty can cloud our mind and make it hard for us to concentrate, so cleaning is not only helpful for hygiene but for our mind too.
Take out the recycling
Most of us will have a corner in the kitchen which is full of newspapers and empty bottles and cans which need to be taken out to the recycling bins. After a few days this pile always makes the kitchen look unclean, so you will want to clear it out regularly. Another thing you can think of doing is investing in a small basket or bowl to put everything in, to keep it tidy for a few days.
Check for expired cans
When was the last time you looked in your food cupboards and actually found something you wanted to use? A lot of us have a whole stock of canned foods in our cupboards and bottles of food which we never use, and over time these will expire. Take some time this weekend to go through and look for expired cans and bottles and get rid of them for good. It will be cathartic to do, and afterwards your cupboards will be clean and tidy ready for your next food shop!
Wake up earlier
This might not be what you want to hear, but waking up a little bit earlier each morning can be just what you need when you are struggling to stay organised in your life. When you wake up earlier you will have much more time to get dressed and find a good outfit, have a shower and breakfast, and even watch some of the news before you leave the house. Waking up early gives you the chance to wake up properly for the day and it will allow you to start thinking about your plans for the day. You’ll be able to work much more productively and this can be exactly what you need when you are in a fast paced job and you have a lot of things to do. You can even slip in some exercise for good measure!
