Always Moving
It takes a lot of work and effort to build a company. It’s not something you can create just with a normal 9 -5 regime; you need to make the most of as many working hours as possible, and twelve hour days are not all that uncommon, especially during the early days. Because you’ll work yourself up to a routine where you’re always working, sometimes exhaustion sets in, and you’re not even aware of it. Make sure you’re setting time aside to look after yourself and take a break. You might want to give your business your all, but you’ll be serving it better if slow down every now and again.
Limited Time With Friends and Family
You can’t do everything in life. If you’re putting all of your energy into one thing, then there’s going to be another aspect of your life that suffers. It’s a common complaint from entrepreneurs later in life that they wish they’d dedicated more time to their personal relationships. Remember to keep in mind that business isn’t everything, so don’t ignore your loved ones. They’ll be there whether your business is a success or not.
Bankruptcy and Failure
There’s always risk associated with starting a business. If success were guaranteed, then everyone would be starting a business! But the facts show that many a new venture fails to become a long-term success. As such, you’ll need to accept that one day you might be dealing with bankruptcy and the collapse of your company. While there are things you can do to limit the risk of this happening, it’s always possible. Don’t worry too much if it does – many of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs had a long list of failures under their belt before they found their winning venture.
Where To Go
It’s all good and well knowing that you need to move and adapt your company, but it’s easier said than done. There’s no rule book telling you which direction to go in! If you’re feeling clueless, take a break from running your business for a few days and get brainstorming.
Responsibility
Finally, there’s the matter of responsibility You just wanted to be your own boss, and know you have employees, different locations, and a long list of responsibilities. It can be overwhelming. If you find yourself in this position, look at delegating some of your duties out to other people.
