The nationality of your business is something to be very proud of. You are part of a larger existence and thus you are involved in the history, heritage, values, culture and customs of a particular nation. Something that has been passed down to you from previous generations, should be cherished and celebrated. Because the calendar is open for all to access and see, no one is left in the dark of what days they have off. They also are inadvertently introduced and or reminded of the holiday that you care about. For example if you are a British company you can book off Rememberance Day to honor the fallen soldiers of past wars. If you are an Italian company you may want to celebrate a religious holiday. It gives employees time off but also a chance to take part in celebrations that might mean something dear to them.

The most important things about a company culture are the principles. For example if you are an automobile company you will need to set what your principles are for the design and performance of your cars. This comes straight from the heart as you need to express truly what you feel and want. The car should be lightweight to improve handling, it should be mid-engined to improve balance, it should have a certain threshold of horsepower etc. These are what you can call principles of design but they also count as company culture. You want to work in a certain way and think in a certain way that can achieve your principles.
The strands of belonging exist in culture and heritage. Any company that does not value these two things will end up with less harmony within the employee ranks and no real aim as to what you really want to become as a business.
