Health is a tricky thing. Everybody aims to be as fit and healthy as possible, but life gets in the way. Sometimes, a car accident that wasn’t your fault can leave you in the hospital. Others, it’s a slip and a fall which does more damage under the hood than on the surface. Even sports injuries are pretty forceful, especially if you’re an Aussie Rules or rugby player.
Life gets even tougher when your health impacts your career. Spraining an ankle or slipping a disk in your back might prevent you from working and earning dough. When this happens, it’s essential to figure out how to recoup unpaid wages.
File Suit
First thing’s first – the accident might not be your fault. If another motorist crashed into you or there wasn’t ample signage, then there is a case. Even if you were to blame, the law states your employer should help cover medical costs and pay for sick leave. Plenty of them don’t because they count on their employees not knowing the legal system, which is why lots of workers end up out of pocket. However, the equation is simple: lost wages, hire a work injury lawyer. The idea of going to court and going up against an attorney will encourage a company or an individual to do the right thing.
Send Invoices
Throughout a lifetime, the average person doles out money without getting it all back. With a solid monthly wage, it’s easy to say “screw it, it’s only $10.” Now, those ten dollars might be the difference between paying for medical bills and not getting your prescription. There is no shame in contacting people who owe you cash and asking for it back; they shouldn’t have stiffed you in the first place. For business-related inquiries, send a professional invoice to keep up appearances. Another attorney might be necessary if they continue to avoid their dues.
Drive
There isn’t a great deal you can do with limited movement, and sitting behind a desk is uncomfortable. The Holy Grail is to find a way to work which isn’t strenuous, is comfy and allows for regular breaks. Driving is the ultimate job for the injured. All it takes is to move your feet and hands to go and change the gears, and you can stop at a gas station for a coffee and a five-minute break. Of course, don’t do it if you were injured in an accident and now have stress as a result of the incident.
Work From Home
Don’t let the hours while away; use your time productively. Even sat in bed, you can manage to lift a laptop and click a few buttons. Anybody who takes part in surveys only needs to answer a handful of questions to get paid. Or, a retailer can keep tabs on their listings and communicate with the buyers. Then there is freelancing, which is glorified typing and doesn’t use up much energy.
Because you’re injured doesn’t mean you’re obsolete. Yes, you might not be fully fit to return to the office yet there are plenty of alternatives. Which one seems like the best fit?
